This section goes through the different administrative areas of your Miro Community site, listing what features are available in each and where you can perform certain functions.

Contents

Videos

This is the central area for adding and organizing videos. To access it, select "Videos" item from the main menu on the left side of the administration interface.

Review Queue

Review Queue page is located at yoursite.mirocommunity.org/admin/approve_reject.

To access it:

1. Select "Videos" item from the main menu on the left side of the administration interface.

2. Click on "Review Queue" tab.

The Review Queue page contains videos that have been added to the site, but have not been approved by an administrator and are thus not yet publicly available.

Videos can come into the review queue from:

To review a video, click on the title of that video in the left hand column, and it will appear for preview in the right hand column. You can also quickly approve or reject videos by hovering over the thumbnail for a given video in the listing and clicking the appropriate command.

Most information for a video can be edited on the Review Queue page by clicking on gray "edit" links next to a given category. Administrators can also see if a video is from a particular feed, or who the contact is if the video has been individually submitted. Any notes left when submitting the video are also visible here.

To help avoid slow loading times, the Review Queue is paginated. You can Approve or Reject all videos on the page by clicking the appropriate buttons at the top of the queue, or reject all videos currently in the Review Queue by clicking "Clear Entire Queue."

If you would like to follow the Review Queue submissions via RSS feed, two options are given - Unapproved RSS, which includes all items currently in the Review Queue, and Unapproved User RSS, which includes only user submitted items (not videos that have come in from a source or search results).

In order to use the review queue properly, your browser must have JavaScript enabled.

Manage Sources

Manage Sources page is located at yoursite.mirocommunity.org/admin/manage.

To access it:

1. Select "Videos" item from the main menu on the left side of the administration interface.

2. Click on "Manage Videos" tab.

This area deals with sources of video, rather than individual items. The most common sources will be Media RSS Feeds, including those generated from YouTube, Vimeo or blip.tv user profiles, which are referred to as "Video Site Users." The other source is "Video Site Searches," which are saved keyword searches performed by Miro Community.

Administrators can Add a Feed or Search for Videos using the buttons on this page.

This area is the only place to edit the settings for a particular source. Administrators can change the categories a source falls in or the user associated with it, and basic information such as the name and website link for the source. This latter information is not prominent by default, but may be visible in some themes.

Changing the thumbnail for a source / setting a particular thumbnail for a source will substitute the chosen thumbnail for items from that source that do not have a thumbnail. Items with a thumbnail will not be affected.

Administrators can also choose to change a source to being auto-approved or having items from that source reviewed. This will not affect items already on the site, only future videos.

Sources can also be deleted from this page. If you choose to delete a source, you will be asked whether to also delete the items already on the site that have been imported through that source (as opposed to only stopping future videos from importing).

Bulk Edit

Bulk Edit page is located at yoursite.mirocommunity.org/admin/bulk_edit.

To access it:

1. Select "Videos" item from the main menu on the left side of the administration interface.

2. Click on "Bulk Edit" tab.

This page lists every video on your Miro Community site. By default, videos shown are those that are approved, though you can choose to show rejected videos instead.

From the bulk edit page, you can edit the information for individual videos, or edit multiple videos at once. You can delete, approve, reject and feature videos from this page as well.

By default, videos are sorted alphabetically by title, but you may choose to sort videos by source, date published or date imported.

When searching for videos by keyword, make sure that you've chosen the appropriate filters. By default, the keyword search will include all current approved videos.

Categories

Categories page is located at yoursite.mirocommunity.org/admin/categories.

To access it:

1. Select "Videos" item from the main menu on the left side of the administration interface.

2. Click on "Categories" tab.

This page allows administrators to add, delete or edit categories.

Although the Categories page will automatically update with new categories, it may take some time for newly added or deleted categories to appear properly in the list of categories elsewhere on the site.

Submit a Video

A link to Add a SIngle Video is available to site administrators from the administrator-facing portion of the site.

To access it:

1. Select "Videos" item from the main menu on the left side of the administration interface.

2. Click on "Submit a Video" tab.

This area is used to customize your site and mark your site-wide preferences.

Widget Settings page is located at yoursite.mirocommunity.org/admin/settings/widget.

To access it:

1. Select "Settings" item from the main menu on the left side of the administration interface.

2. Click on "Widget" tab.

Widgets are editable by users both on their Miro Community page and when embedded on an external site. However, Miro Community Administrators can also set the default design for their site widget and decide whether or not to let users make changes to the widget through the Miro Community site.

The available options are:

Themes

Themes page is located at yoursite.mirocommunity.org/admin/themes.

To access it:

1. Select "Settings" item from the main menu on the left side of the administration interface.

2. Click on "Themes" tab.

This area allows you to move between default themes or upload a custom theme, if you are at an account level that includes that feature.

Pages (Max Accounts Only)

Pages page is located at yoursite.mirocommunity.org/admin/flatpages.

To access it:

1. Select "Settings" item from the main menu on the left side of the administration interface.

2. Click on "Pages" tab.

Here you can add, edit and delete additional user-facing pages to your Miro Community site.

For each custom page, you need to specify a relative URL and HTML source code. Initially, custom pages are empty and by default have no styling other than the overall site header and footer.

After you create custom pages and fill them with the desired content, you will need to add links to these pages in your theme, or in your sidebar or footer, if you would like them to be linked through the Miro Community interface.

Users

Users page is located at yoursite.mirocommunity.org/admin/users.

To access it, select "Users" item from the main menu on the left side of the administration interface.

This is where you can manage users, which includes both registered site users and automatically created authors that you attribute videos to.

You can create, edit or delete users from this area. Deleting a user deletes all videos associated with that user. Administrators can fill out information about users through this page, or allow users to fill out their own profiles on their profile page.

By default, only "human" user accounts for registered site users are shown. To view automatically created authors, click "Only Show - All" link, or navigate to yoursite.mirocommunity.org/admin/users?show=all.

Comments

Comments page is located at yoursite.mirocommunity.org/comments/moderation-queue.

To access it, select "Comments" item from the main menu on the left side of the administration interface.

On this page, you can review comments available for moderation and approve or remove them. You can also monitor activity of users posting comments and check their IP addresses.
